1. Onions

Peeling onions – simply place in boiling water for a minute or so, remove and let cool – then simply peel the outer skin off

2 Lemons

Squeeze a little – rather than risking wasting a whole lime or lemon just prick the skin with a skewer or fork and squeeze as required

3 Brown Sugar

Brown sugar clumping? – place a piece of white bread with the sugar and leave – the sugar will breakdown back to granules

4 Pickles

In a pickle – add a little salt and sugar to white wine vinegar – pour-over thinly sliced vegetables – wait for 20 minutes and enjoy

5 Cheese

Marinate your cheese – mozzarella, feta and goat’s cheese can be a little bland but marinating in olive oil, chilli flakes and fresh herbs will take these cheeses to another level

6 Spices

Pimp the spice –toasting your spices in a dry skillet or frying pan will release their oils and improve depth of flavour – toast until fragrant – cool and crush  – add to the dish

7 Salad Leaves

Salad leaves – extend the use-by date by adding a kitchen roll paper to the open packet – the paper will absorb all excess moisture

8 Pizza

Pizza – to reheat pizza spray with cold water first before you put into the oven

9 Bacon

Bacon – to cook the perfect rasher place on foiled tray and place in the oven – cook for 12 minutes at 200C in a preheated oven

10 Cherry!

Pit a cherry – place a cherry on top of a beer bottle and gently push with a chopstick so the cherry stone falls into the bottle ….replace with another cherry and repeat  

11 Crispy Potatoes

Crispy potatoes – add baking powder when boiling the potatoes – drain when ready – roast or fry for the crispiest results ever

12 Boiled Eggs

Boiled eggs – shelling a boiled egg can be a pain but  adding vinegar or baking powder in the boiling process will make this a simple task

13 Eggshell

Eggshell – the best way to remove a stay eggshell is to wet a finger with water before trying

Fish Bake

Fish bake – when baking whole or fillets of fish place on sliced lemon or orange to stop it sticking to the tray … and it will enhance the flavour

Limp Vegetables

Limp vegetables – celery, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce and asparagus can be brought back to life but being placed in iced cold water …. Love food – hate waste
