Having seen a gap in the catering industry for a consultancy with broad operational experience Gideon created Spires Catering Consultancy in January 2018. Since starting the business he has been providing advice and expertise to organisations to help improve their catering offer and achieve strategic objectives.
Gideon Smith, based in Oxford, has spent over 30 years in the catering industry having worked for a large catering contractor in the operational and strategic management of contracts in Sports & Leisure, Education and Business & Industry.
He has board level experience in strategic planning and decision making and has developed business plans to significantly grow income streams and achieve cost savings for clients including leisure & sporting venues, state and independent schools, universities, business & industry. Gideon has also managed major refurbishment projects and has successfully mobilised large scale, multi-site contracts.
Gideon’s focus on understanding clients’ requirements results in solutions and recommendations that are aligned to their business needs and consumer expectations. He has a thorough and up to date knowledge of industry trends and consumer behaviour.
Gideon has a comprehensive network of contacts within the industry that he works with to provide additional expertise in specialist areas such as design & planning of catering operations, marketing & communications, trend analysis and market insights.
Zac Toumazi joined Spires Catering Consultancy in January 2021 and is the Director of Sports and Leisure. He is actively developing and harmonising opportunities in the sports and leisure sector.
Apart from being a professionally trained chef, Zac has demonstrated a history of working in the financial services sector having fulfilled senior roles with Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. He then moved into professional cricket administration as Group Commercial Director at Surrey County Cricket Club and then Hampshire Cricket. His career in Cricket culminated after four years at Sussex Cricket where he was CEO.
Skilled in negotiation, business planning, coaching/mentoring and Integrated marketing. Zac has a strong commercial background and extensive experience in strategic business development.
Zac’s outside interests include family time, golf, learning to play the guitar, cooking and supporting his chosen charities, namely SimPal and Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity
Zac is hugely motivated by putting something back and help to develop and support the next generation of business professionals.
